Basil

Some artworks immediately seek to capture the viewer’s attention.

Basil takes a different path.

Its presence gradually asserts itself through a delicate balance of lines, texture, and color.

Without relying on dramatic effects, the figure fully inhabits the space, inviting a slower, more contemplative gaze.

Through this work, Julien Gilles continues his exploration of the many ways identity can be expressed, revealing how strength can also emerge from restraint.
