SOCIAL ANIMALS
GIRAFE-“Pretty, Not Tamed”
In this piece, I wanted to explore the tension between social construction and instinct.
At first, the figure appears controlled, elegant, almost editorial. But the vertical lines crossing the face slowly disrupt that image.
For me, they represent fractures.
The visible traces of stereotypes, expectations, and social performance starting to collapse.
Pretty Not Tamed is not about rebellion in a spectacular way.
It is about what quietly resists underneath.
The part of ourselves that cannot be entirely optimized, softened, or domesticated.
Within my Social Animals series, the animal is never literal.
It exists in what still escapes control.
