Sisko
Sisko belongs to the Humanizer series, a body of hybrid portraits in which Julien Gilles explores layered identities, social projections and the way individuals resist being reduced to a single reading.
Born in Barbados, with Sino-Congolese heritage, Sisko carries multiple origins without turning them into fixed labels. His presence is built through color, posture and style.
In this work, sapology is not treated as decoration. It becomes a way of standing in the world — a visual language of dignity, self-composition and refusal to disappear.
The vertical background, the bright colors, the glasses and the structured clothing create a figure that is both urban and ceremonial. Sisko does not try to blend in. He chooses visibility.
Within Humanizer, this work questions the tension between origin, projection and freedom. Sisko wears color not as ornament, but as a response.
