In Electrik Sunset – C'est l'amour à la plage, the tropical landscape reveals a beauty that is as captivating as it is uncertain. Palm trees stand against an electric sky, while the last rays of sunlight break through a mass of turbulent clouds.

Yet one question remains: is the storm approaching, or has it just passed?

Luminous blues, oranges, and pinks clash and blend in a composition where the calm ocean contrasts with the restless sky. Vibrating lines heighten this sense of instability, as though the landscape were caught between two states.

Through this work, Julien Gilles explores the ambiguity of moments when beauty and unease coexist. Much like human relationships, this apparent paradise may signal either an approaching storm or the return of calm.

It all depends on when we look, and perhaps on what we are going through ourselves.
